Beer of the Week: Real Ale Roggenbier

The image “http://www.realalebrewing.com/images/ra_logo.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

On the WALCS second official visit to Real Ale Brewing in Blanco, we discovered this rare gym of a beer. So we decided to enjoy a couple more pints while playing washers with the brewer.

Roggenbier
:(
draught only)

Roggenbier (German for "rye beer") is a style not commonly found in the U.S. Real Ale Roggenbier is golden in color and similar in flavor to a hefeweizen. Traditional German hefeweizen yeast produces notes of banana, clove, and bubblegum. Forty percent malted rye imparts a hint of bitterness and a crisp, dry finish.

ABV: 4.9%, IBU: 10, OG(plato): 12.7

Beer of the Week: (512) IPA

Probably one of the most anticipated beers of WALCS is the new IPA by (512) Brewing.

(512) IPA
The (512) India Pale Ale is a big, aggressively dry hopped American IPA with smooth bitterness (~65 IBU) balanced by medium maltiness. 100% US malted grains, loads of hops, and great Austin water create an ale with apricot and vanilla aromatics that lure you in for more. (Approx. 6.5% ABV)

For normal people
Darn tasty beer.

For beer lovers
Manny's Pale Ale: A careful selection of Northwest hops, premium barley, and our unique yeast give this ale a rich and complex malty middle with a snappy hop finish. It's truly a micro that finishes crisp, clean, and smooth.

For beer geeks
Two-row Pale, Crystal, and Cara-Pilsner Malt. Magnum and Cascade hops. IBU's: 37. Original gravity 1.052 (13 Plato). Finishing gravity 1.010 (2.5 Plato). English Ale yeast. Alcohol by Volume: 5.5%.

Beer of the Week: Labatt Wildcat Strong

Lager, 6.1% alc./vol.

Labatt Wildcat Strong uses North American aromatic hops unique to the Wildcat family and the finest quality Canadian malted barley. It has a fuller, slightly sweeter palate that retains the dominant hop flavor and aroma.

Sampled by the "Commander Guy" as recommended by the "Burly Lumberjack Guy". Pairs nicely with Garlic Moose Burgers.
